Year 5 Totara Park EOTC
The children had lots of fun working together as a team for the co-operative games. This was led by Mrs Wee's student teacher, who had enjoyed helping the outdoor education leader the previous day.
The children were very courageous and showed great resilience in riding their bikes and practising their new skills. We had several children who learnt to ride a bike for the first time during their bike skills session. An amazing accomplishment in only one session!
Many children particularly enjoyed archery, cleverly mastering the skill of using a bow and arrow, aiming carefully at the target. We definitely had some budding Robin Hoods in our groups!
The bush walk was beautiful. The children learnt many interesting facts about the wildlife during their scavenger hunt through the bush. Of particular note was the casing left by the Puriri moth, burrowed in the tree.
All in all, we had a wonderful day and were blessed with cool weather, perfect for a long day outside. The children returned to school full of inspiration and new-found knowledge and skills learnt during their day out in Totara Park.
